Control battles, limit setting and other challenges of the toddler years (ages 2 to 5)

with Tovah P. Klein, PhD., Director of the Barnard College Center for Toddler Development
Author of How Toddlers Thrive: What parents can do today for children ages 2 to 5 to plant the
seeds of lifelong success
(Simon & Schuster, 2014)

The toddler years (ages 2-5) are a time when children begin to separate and form a sense of self.  As they discover themselves and the world, their desire to make decisions and have control can escalate.
Hear Dr. Tovah Klein, author of  How Toddler Thrive and Director of the Barnard Toddler Center discuss the developmental underpinnings and why toddlers do what they do.
Seeing the world through the eyes of your child helps shift the way you parent, making life easier and more enjoyable for you and your child.
She will share insights and strategies for making these tender but tough-at-times years less rocky.

Does your child:
- Refuse to eat certain foods? Is she a picky eater?
- Make mealtimes a battle?
- Dawdle and drag out bedtime?
- Refuse to use the potty?
- Use No! and Mine! as their favorite words?
- Insist on wearing the same shirt every day?
- Only want his sandwich cut one way?
- Demand a particular bowl or cup?
- When are toddlers ready for preschool?
- What to look for in a preschool program?

Dr. Klein will provide tips for setting reasonable limits at this age that help prevent control battles, avoid shaming children and empower both the parent and toddlers.

- Q&A and book signing

The workshop will focus on toddlers through age 5 yrs.
