Beyond The First Year: An HRP Mamas Support Group For Mothers of Children 1-4 yrs

with Meira Cohen-Hansford, LCSW

Beyond The First Year: An HRP Mamas Support Group For Mothers of Children 1-4 yrs is a weekly support group for moms with one (or more) children ages one to four years old.

The support group provides a safe, respectful environment where you are encouraged to share and support one another through the early years of Motherhood. Guided by Meira Cohen-Hansford, LCSW, the group is aimed at providing support and fostering a space in which mothers can exchange thoughts on their shared and unique experiences related to motherhood, parenting and family life.

We will focus on addressing individual and shared concerns, questions and challenges. Topics include, but are not limited to:

- Identity
- Co-parenting
- Friendships
- Family
- Balance/Compromise
- Managing stress
- Parenting strategies
- Challenges of specific developmental phases
- Work/Life Balance
- Self-care

This support group runs for five weeks and can accommodate a maximum of 8 mothers.
The Facilitator for this group is: Meira Cohen-Hansford, LCSW. Please see below for Meira’s bio

Quotes from past participants of The HRP Mamas “Beyond The First Year Support Group” with Meira Cohen:

"I cannot say enough about the importance of feeling like you are part of a community. Gathering with women who are in the same season of life and who are also seeking support is incredibly special.”

"I loved loved the support group. It is a safe space to talk, not only about motherhood, but different topics that are challenging at the moment in our lives.
All participants are very nice and kind women trying their best. It doesn’t matter if you are a stay home mom or if you work, If you have one or more kids. We all respect and try to give feedback to each situation presented. “

"The support group helped me to feel less alone. I no longer feel like the challenges in my marriage or the areas I'm trying to problem solve being the mom of a toddler are specific to me. It is a great feeling to know there are others walking this same path with me. It was also a safe place to ask for advice without the risk of feeling judged. We were all there because we want support, in one area or another.”

“The support group has been a great way to meet moms in my neighborhood (I moved to the city a year ago, and haven’t had any chance to meet people).
Meira has been great. She has a plan for each meeting, but she doesn’t mind if we go off topic. She gives us her opinion and shares with us her experiences which has been great. Overall I would recommend very much this support group. Thanks for creating this space.”

"This weekly support group created safe space to share and seek advice about the challenges that come along with having young child. As a new-is mom, I often felt like I was the only one being challenged in various ways and the support group opened my eyes to the fact that these challenges are universal and most of us are experiencing the same thing. The group quickly began to feel like a community.”

"Meira was an amazing moderator of the group. She balanced when to offer input with when to allow the moms to hash things out. She asked thoughtful questions and made everyone feel at ease. She seemed to quickly pick up on the differences in energy and personality of the group members and used this to support the group dynamic. “
