Since 2004

Founded in 2004, the Hudson River Park Mothers Group is a nonprofit that fosters real community and supports mothers, expectant mothers, and parents of every stage, online and in person.

We started as a small new mom group in Lower Manhattan. Thousands of members later, we have grown, and served mothers Downtown and beyond. What has not changed is our mission and the care we take in accomplishing it. Members are placed into small cohorts by due or birth date and by neighborhood, replicating the original HRP Mamas new mom group that started the organization 22 years ago.

In addition, all members have access to larger online groups where advice, discussion, classifieds, and childcare referrals benefit from larger membership.

The HRP Mamas online community and chats live on a bespoke private app, free of influencers and marketing. No algorithms, no data brokers, no advertising.

Our goal is simple: to nurture a respectful community where parents help each other and where real friendships can grow. Every member is a verified local parent, because that is what our community is all about.

Weekly lactation support groups are free for members and run on Zoom. Drop-in sessions are led by IBCLC-certified lactation consultants, wherever you are and however feeding is going.

Why it matters

The antidote to new-parent isolation is another parent who has been there. Connection is not a luxury for new mothers, it is protective.

A growing body of research consistently links peer support to better maternal wellbeing and a lower risk of postpartum depression.
